Edinburgh Festival & Fringe Festival
The Edinburgh International Festival happens every August and lasts for 3 weeks. The Art World’s finest creators of classical music, theatre, opera, dance and the visual arts can be found in Edinburgh’s six major theatres and concert halls, plus a few smaller venues.
The Edinburgh Festival Fringe happens at the same time and is the largest arts festival in the world.
Thousands of performers from all over the world and at every stage of their career come to Edinburgh to perform. From the most famous to complete unknowns, the festival caters for everyone and includes theatre, musicals, operas, dance and, especially comedy.
Rugby in Edinburgh
Murrayfield hosts many International rugby events every year as well as being one of Scotland largest conference and events venue.
There are also many Rugby matches held from Pre-Season Games to Heineken Cup, RaboDirect PRO12 and Womens Rugby.

Edinburgh Castle
Edinburgh Castle was the royal castle since at least the reign of David I in the 12th century, and the site continued to be a royal residence until the Union of the Crowns in 1603. Now in the care of Historic Scotland, and it is Scotland’s most-visited paid tourist attraction. It plays host to The Edinburgh Tattoo and many live events throughout the year.
Edinburgh Zoo
Built in 1913, and owned by the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland, it receives over 600,000 visitors a year, which makes it Scotland’s second most popular paid-for tourist attraction, after Edinburgh Castle. Edinburgh Zoo is the only zoo in Britain to house koalas, as well as being the first zoo in the world to house and to breed penguins, in particular, King penguins.
Palace of Holyrood House
The Palace of Holyroodhouse, commonly referred to as Holyrood Palace, is the official residence of the monarch in Scotland. The palace stands at the bottom of the Royal Mile in Edinburgh, at the opposite end to Edinburgh Castle. Holyrood Palace is the setting for state ceremonies and official entertaining.
